Xiao Yingzhou is located in the northeastern part of the South Lake, opposite to the Smoke and Rain Building on the island in the center of the lake, commonly known as Little South Lake and Little Smoke and Rain Building. This island was built during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, and was also made of silt from the dredging of the city river, with a total area of about 8 acres. At first, it was used by fishermen to dry their nets, but later it became a good place for sightseeing and was opened as a lakeside park in 1959. In the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, Jiaxing's folk organization, “the word will” in the northern part of the island to build three shrines for the ancestor of the word Cangjie, and called him Cang Sheng to show respect. At the southern end of the island, there is a famous stone in Jiangnan, “Dancing Jiao Stone”, which is 3 meters high and 2 meters wide, and is said to be a relic of the Tang Dynasty, or a relic of “Hua Shi Gang” in the late Song Dynasty. On the stone are two characters of “Maijiao” in seal script, which are the handwriting of Zhao Mengfu, a great calligrapher of the Yuan Dynasty. The small island is connected to the Lakeside Park in the north of the island by a nine-curve bridge, which is a good place for Jiaxing citizens to visit with their families on their days off.
